Why I Love the End of Daylight Savings Time

1 November 2009 40 Comments

daylight-savings-timeBecause nothing feels better on a lazy Sunday afternoon in November than realizing not all of your clocks are correct and that you have one extra wonderful hour of weekend time left.

This could be my favorite “holiday” of the year.

And my second favorite? Halloween.

C’mon how can you not laugh at kids trick-or-treating? The best are the groups of kids who announce which houses to hit for the best loot.

This years winner according to my son was the house that gave each kid  a dollar bill.

The winner according to me is the house that gave parents a choice of red or white wine in a “to go” cup.

Dunno, I bought $50 worth of candy to give out. A dollar a kid might have been cheaper!

Can I assume then that your son put down the crossword puzzle to partake in the Halloween festivities?

It poured here, btw. Not one trick-or-treater showed up at our door. My husband and I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Loved it!

It rained here, not enough to call it off, but just enough to be a big wet mess of leaves.

That is a great movie…and you had candy to go with it!

What a cool idea to hand out wine to the parents!!! I would have loved that when the kids were trick or treatin’! I miss the little kids. No one comes by my house! I bought candy last year, (it was myfirst year here) and not one single trick or treater! i was soo sad. I love the costumes!! snce I knew they weren’t coming I too had a movie weekend: The Soloist, Inkheart, State of Play, Push, Defiance. I too like that extra hour of sleep! Never thought about it being one of my favorite days, but it is! Happy November!

    Hi Nancy!
Thanks for visiting my blog and following me! I thought I’d return the favor and come check out your site. I love Halloween & Daylight Savings as well. But as the sun began to set at 5:30 I found myself lamenting the loss of evening sunlight. But hey, maybe it’ll help get the kiddos to bed earlier?!!?

Where do you live? I need to move there right now! LOL. I actually made spiked apple cider (with rum) and tried to give it out. But no adults showed up. They all wimped out because of the cold. I walked around with a thermo. I had a lot of fun by myself. Love the picture you chose for this post.
