Valentine’s Day Challenge

31 January 2010 28 Comments

Have you ever loved someone so much that your heart swells when you think of them?

Who ever those people in your life are…do they know you feel this way about them?

With Valentine’s day coming up, I wonder how many people think of the day as an obligatory gift/card day. My hand would go up if I were asked this question.

If you are one of those people, do it differently this year:

Be it your spouse, your child, a relative or a friend, skip the card. BE the card. Tell them that they are loved. Look them in the eyes and tell them.  It will be the Valentine’s day gift they will never forget.

Recession proof price of $0.  Everything that comes from it? Priceless.

Funny, I haven’t walked in a Hallmark in years! No wonder no one sends me cards :)

Have you ever bought the card, the candy, whatever, and there was no more feeling attached than buying them socks. This is excellent, we only get today, we should do this everyday but if we need an excuse, Valentine’s Day is perfect.

Honestly, it’s rare I find a card that ever feels right to me. I’m not a huge fan of cards at all. To me….grabbing someone, kissing them happy “whatever” and a giant hug beats any card, any day.

Great idea, really. Better yet, my boys will make a card for their daddy – nothing sweeter than homemade crafts made from a child to a parent, huh?

Or my favorite thing to do…….. MAKE them their favorite meal with special touches like the good china, fancy tablecloth and napkins….. It so cute that my 20 something daughter is doing just that for her special guy. One time we made the daddy a big chocolate chip cookie (his favorite cookie) to take to work he worked nights and it was Valentines eve…. but he loved it. I did make a dessert for a guy I was dating because I worked that night. We had our dessert after I got off work and the night together. It was nice……….
