New Living Arrangement?

New Living Arrangement?

It’s amazing how much you can get done when people leave you alone! Since my husband’s been away. We are now on the 2nd week here with one more to go.

  1. Cleaned out every single pantry, drawer and shelf in the kitchen and cleaned out the fridge.
  2. Cleaned out every shelf and cabinet in the bathrooms.
  3. Replaced the lightbulbs along our front walk way.
  4. Faux-painted the powder room the way I had been wanting to.
  5. Painted the louver doors in the laundry room
  6. Repaired the dent on the wall of my son’s bedroom wall made by a thrown Hess truck, as well as the one made by the fish tank he thought he wouldn’t drop.
  7. Bought frames and hung the photos I had been meaning to hang for over a year now.
  8. We’ve made 2 batches of fresh ravioli and one batch of cookies.
  9. We have a full fridge and a very short grocery list.
  10. There is never more than one load of laundry waiting to be done.
  11. The sink never has dishes piled up and the dishwasher is never waiting long for someone to unload it.
  12. My son is actually picking up after himself, without nagging. I had to laugh yesterday when we were at the Ice Cream shop with his team mates. He had dropped some gummy bears and picked them up without a word from me.  Three weeks ago he would have stepped on them and mashed them before I, ME, I picked them up.
  13. And the best thing…….I have not had to harass anyone to stop snoring!

Ahhhhhhh. Domestic bliss.

Do I miss my husband? Sure, but I’m thinking that maybe we should purchase a two family home when he returns. Live in side by side residences? He can come for conjugal visits, occasional meals, and to open jars I can’t manage to open.  Doubtful.

Isn’t it great when they aren’t there. This is why being single is so dang appealing. My hubby came home last night, and already the house is a sty.

What I like best about when my husband is away is that I don’t have to make real meals and I can stay up all night. But these don’t out weigh all the things he does for me around the house (shopping, laundry, ironing, putting the kids to bed and taking one to supervise homework.) I often wonder if it is the difference between a man who married late in life and men who marry really young. He already did all these things himself and he waited so long for children.

Excellent ideas. I think #7 is one I need to get my butt in gear on. We’re in this house nearly 3 years, oh, wait, it HAS been 3 years, and I still don’t have pictures hanging in our living room. And they’re already in frames! Argh!

I enjoyed this post as much as I envy your little vacation. That sort of productivity is more energizing for me than any vacation I have had. Maybe I have been on the wrong sort of vacations.
I actually look forward to Monday’s. Weekends often feel as if I have one more set of needs to negotiate/consider. Routines, rituals and item placement are completely derailed. Oddly enough, each Friday I fantasize that the boys and housework will get twice as much care and attention( and that I will get time to “myself”…funny how it doesn’t add up that way. 2 family home sounds nice. very nice.

    You made fresh ravioli?

I cook for a living and even I do not delight my family with homemade treats such as that. They get whatever crap I have left in the bottom of the veggie bin.

Please email my husband and tell him to LEAVE.

Watch out! Your husband may come and not know where he is. LOL. :-)

OMG! I was that productive in my second trimester when the nesting urge really kicked in full force. Now, not so much. But only because I’m busy keeping my 10 month old entertained! I love my son more than life itself, but I do miss the days when I could actually get stuff done!

Wow. Super Woman! I am exhausted just reading the list. Amazing. Maybe you should write invoices and hand them to hubby when he comes back. :-) That could go towards the down payment for his new adobe. LOL. My husband travels 50% of the time. That means 50% of the time I have 2 boys and a clean house, 50% of the time I have 3 boys, a messier house, and 3 angry people.
