Lightbulb & A Birth Announcement
So this weekend my son decided he wanted to try making popcorn over the fire in our fireplace. (He’s always been completely drawn to the fireplace since he was an infant. I’m guessing there is “fireman” in his future.) He decided to take microwave popcorn and with the help of his dad, poured into some camping covered metal thing with a long handle contraption.
Fail. Majorly burned kernels with approximately 10 actually edible popped ones.
Fail. Cranky upset child. Frustrated dad.
Lightbulb: One of the eight nights of Hanukah gifts done. Just ordered a case of Jiffy Pop.
Only seven more gifts to go!
Now for that announcement:
So, I’m not sure about you, but I have a ton of blogs in my reader. What I couldn’t find though, was a website that presented new bloggers in a way that was content driven.
There are a great deal of blog communities here, but I couldn’t relate to most of them. There are editorial sites and advice sites. Sites where you could submit posts, but often they are shown deep within the site. You have to dig to find that content. There are blog directories consisting of titles, which are nice but who reads past the letter “A” in them? And there are websites that only recognize you if you vote or comment.
None of them “did it” for me.
So I figure, if I am looking for a site like this: Content driven. Magazine like. Real world. A place to showcase talent. Maybe someone else is too?
And I found her, the beloved Unknown Mami.
She and I are happy to announce that we are the proud parents of Life 2 Us. A bouncing baby website that we hope will grow into a fine adult. Raised by a village.
Life 2 Us is a website where you can submit posts, find new blogs, speak your mind, be a part of that village. We hope you will join us there……

if a case of jiffy pop popcorn is acceptable as one of the gifts for the eight days of hannukah, i’m converting. i think it’s an awesome idea…and what a great thing to do together as a family! i’ve known since i played hodel in fiddler on the roof in college, i was born into the wrong family. when i was a young adult, i wanted to be on coffee talk with linda richman (saturday night live). it’s like buttah!

And as for the jiffy pop, I actually made some this past weekend. And I haven’t had jiffy pop in well over 10 years. But I didn’t have a usable microwave, and had a ton of movies to watch and was craving popcorn. My Lord, that jiffy pop sure knows what he’s doing.
