Iphone App: Free Must Haves for Parents

originalIf you have the IPhone you already know what a fantastic phone it is. You can do everything from *yawn* make a phone call to track a plane flight in real time. The ITouch is just as wonderful with the exception that there is no phone capability and that you must be near a wifi location in order to use many of the applications.

What you might not know is that there are some really fantastic applications you can download to make your life as a parent easier. You can use them on your IPhone or ITouch.  (Just a note, by clicking some of the links below, ITunes will open up to take you right to the application.)

  1. WeB MD Mobile: webmd-mobileIt’s a free application that takes the symptoms you’ve entered and shows possible ailments. It won’t replace a doctor’s visit, but at least it gives you an idea of what might be wrong.
  2. Baby Safe: Free for a limited time, this application acts as a baby monitor. You can set it to alert you when the noise in the room reaches a certain level. You can monitor as well by Twitter alerts. It also has a lullaby function too!
  3. Time Out: Another free application. You can set your child’s name or names and apply a timed time out for each of them. How great is that?
  4. Sit Or Squat Bathroom Finder: Once again, a free application. View nearby restrooms on a map. Read reviews and see what features that restroom has. (Such as changing tables.)
  5. Disney World Wait Times: This app shows you wait times in Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.
  6. Kidstatz: A fast and easy way to record your child’s information in case they get lost or are missing. You can enter a photo, height, weight, physical characteristics and medical history. You can also email this information to friends and authorities too.

    Technology never ceases to amaze me. I remember back in the day when cell phones were a new thing… and they came in a travel bag. My dad had one and we called it his Bag Phone.

    Now I’m going to have to get an IPhone because it makes keeping up with things so much easier. That means less chaos. That means less headaches. That means an insanely happy mommy.

    The IPhone is really fantastic. You can even “WordPress” from it. On the downside, I’m like a junkie with it. It’s never out of reach.

    I still have my original cell phone. A giant Motorola thing. I remember the bag phones though. Huge!

    But then again…..it doesn’t take much to amuse me….I just upgraded my phone and it has a slide out keyboard and I am thrilled. (I even took a step on the wild side and got texting finally! LOL)

    i love my iphone, but occasionally want to remove all my apps and just use it as a phone without the bells and whistles. And then I remind myself that I bought for the bells and whistles, and then I open Twitter and Facebook and all the other fun things it does! I have a few really cool matching games for the girls to play, and there is a great white noise feature that has some really nice sound effects to sleep to. Great thing to travel with when you have kids used to sleeping with noise.
