ifI wasn’t planning on writing any post tonight. Instead, I sat and read through countless posts in my google reader.  I wish I could remember which blog I saw this on:

What would you do, if you knew you would not fail?

This was a quote that I have always loved and pulled out whenever I was going through something rough in life.  I have to be honest that my life is pretty rough now in a lot of ways. None of them too dramatic or exciting. Some of it I attribute to mid-life crisis.  Who cares.

My point is: I’m so glad I read this quote again on someones blog, because it’s just what I needed to read tonight. If you own that blog or know who posted it, please leave it in the comments section.

What would I do if I knew I would not fail?

Fear sucks. Be a good mom and make sure your children grow up knowing what that quote really means.

Thanks. I needed that today. You know how I started my own company recently… Well I need to get another contract in and I have an opportunity to introduce my company formally for a huge opportunity. And I’ve been doing my best to get my website and introductory materials in order, but yesterday I just got so discouraged! I was looking at my competitors and Fear stuck his little nose in where he doesn’t belong. I just came to a screeching halt.

I KNOW I can do this. I need to not forget that and do what I know I can do.

    Thanks for the reminder Nancy.

Glad I could help. I’m kind of in a similar place with work. I’m tired of what I am doing. I’m tired of always being tired. I need a change and this quote helps me “get there”.

Hope everything works out perfectly for you!

    Here’s the thing to me:

The failures don’t linger in your brain long. The awful feeling from them fades away…so why do we get so stuck on them?

Nancy thank you. We should live closer to this. I know there are a lot of big things I would do. I would start my own furniture company, for one. Knowing I would not fail would be helpful to say the least :) And I don;t have the balls or the money without knowing! Great post!

I am hoping I figure it out soon. I’m in a place where I’m not loving my work anymore. I feel like I need a change, because what I’m presently doing is stressing me out too much and I can’t keep waking up with a sore jaw from clenching my teeth all night long. :(

I watched Hilary Swank on Jay Leno earlier. I got the impression that she never thinks about the “F” word. She skydives, bungee jumps, and learned how to fly a plane in order to play Amelia Earhart. I know we all have different fear thresholds. But some people, like Hilary Swank, seem to fly just above the fear threshold (sticking with the Amelia Earhart theme) and never look down. Several months ago, I was gripped by fear of the unknown when I lost my job. So, I wrote a poem about it, which helped immensely. Then I dug my heels in and started climbing back up the slippery slope, successfully avoiding disaster at every altitude change. Fear is really just smoke and mirrors – a horrific disguise to prevent us from seeing what’s hidden beneath the mask.

Here’s my fear post when you get a chance:

It’s funny that you mention Amelia Earhart. She was my idol when I was growing up. She mystified me. I have a poster of her from an ad campaign that has “Think Different” written on it. It hangs right over my desk.

I really want to see this movie.

    And yes, fear is brutal.
