Frozen Spoons = Snow

10 February 2010 8 Comments

According to my 10 year old son, if you place a spoon in the freezer and then put it under your pillow at bedtime, there will be snow when you wake up in the morning. Enough for school to be canceled.

There are 3 spoons presently in our freezer.

Who needs westher.com? All I know is that it worked last night. We woke up to snow and it has not stopped since.  A winter wonderland and I completely love it.

The only issue I have is the #!%&ing  kid next door.  He is always ringing my door or gloming in on my son’s play dates.  Without fail my son comes in at some point crying because this kid has called him one of a slew of names.  Demented, mama’s boy, etc.  Today he punched my son several times in the head after sledding. Forget the fact that he was in my house all morning with his brother.

The thing is though, he does it when no adults are present. Sneaky little chump that he is.  He’ll get on the bus and tell kids that my son “cried to his mom”.  This is the only boy my son ever seems to have a problem with.

It pulls at my heart and I really don’t know what to do about it aside  from MOVING away.

We have a couple of boys like that around here. I try to be doing something within earshot but not noticeable. Or watch from inside the house…After catching them red handed a couple of times it stopped. I never had to get their parents involved.

I pretty much have banned him from playing with them. The oldest boy there has alaways rubbed me the wrong way. He’s a very sneaky and mean kid.

Gosh that’s tough. If his parents are approachable I would talk to them. If not, I would not allow him over anymore and explain to him that your family has certain rules about being respectful and considerate of others feelings including friends. If he can’t show the same respect in return, he can no longer come over and play. Tell him how sorry and how sad you are about it because deep down you see the potential in him to be a really good and loyal friend to your son. Maybe he’ll think about it and change his tune. Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for your advice. His parents (mostly the mother) aren’t on my favorite people list. I see where her son gets his mean streak…..she is always screaming out the front door at them. :(

This is something to talk to his parents about, but like maroon skye said, only if you can. If not, don’t allow him to come over any more.

I should try this spoon trick. We live in the desert and have only experienced significant snowfall twice in 30 years – that’d be a true test of this theory I think. ;)

I say don’t allow this kid over anymore. There’s always a kid like that to spoil the fun. what a little punk!

I think you have to catch him as well, anything else will be your son “crying to his mom” Or maybe you should just invite a bigger, meaner kid over.

I have never heard of the spoon thing. My kids wear their pajamas inside out and dance in front of the refrigerator before bed! Where do they get these things! Love that picture by the way!
