Caughted?
I heard something on TV the other day. At first, I thought was a jab at marriage. I even laughed at it. (I would never poke fun at marriage.) But now 3 days into my “time off”, I see it an entirely different way.
When you’re dating someone, time together makes for a better relationship. When you’re married, time apart makes for a better relationship.
Nothing could feel more true for me tonight. Not even just because it is good for the marriage. It’s good for your mother/child relationship, too
It’s Friday night. I have no work tomorrow and I can really do an entire day EXACTLY the way I want to. I drove home from work today with my Ipod on…and I was singing. Something I have not done in months. I came home and crashed on the sofa for awhile. Something I have not done in years. I ordered an awesome dinner to be delivered. Had my favorite ice cream for dessert. And I’m watching “What Not to Wear”. Could not be a more relaxing night.
It’s all great and wonderful and no spa could beat it. However…….
I heard my son’s voice on the phone tonight. He’s at the age where he still got that little boy/baby voice. He told me about his day. His 6 jumbo shrimp with pasta for dinner. His every activity and conversation. How he sleeps with Gizzy’s (our dog) picture under his pillow. And how the fish he hooked today was the biggest one he ever “caughted”. I can’t wait to smother him with kisses and hugs.
Two days to go…..

Okay, that is MY idea of heaven on earth! I feel bad for admitting that but what I would’ve give to have a couple days at home all by myself!! I do think time away from the kids and the spouse is a good thing to do. It refreshes you and makes you miss them, which just makes you appreciate them that much more!
Do me a favor???? Sleep an extra hour for me and make sure to eat an extra scoop of ice cream for me too!!!

Alone time was a necessity when my son was a baby.
Now he’s twenty and the roles have reversed. He needs alone time from me.

Life just keeps on changing! I know at some point I’ll be bummed about the time he wants away from me.

Thanks Blueviolet! I’m having a one person party here. Enjoying my last night of peace and quiet…and full control of the remote.

My daughter is only 15 months, but I’ve already discovered that if I don’t get some alone time once in awhile I’m not real fun to live with, lol. So it’s not only for yourself but for the rest of your family’s sanity as well!
